Abstract
The disaccharide blocks ethyl O-(2, 3, 4, etyl-alpha-D-mannopyranosyl) -(1-->3)-2-O-acetyl-4, 6-O-benzylidene-1-thio-alpha-D-mannopyranoside 7 and methyl O-(3-O-benzyl-4, dene-alpha-D-mannopyranosyl)-(1-->2)-3-O -benzyl-4, 6-O-benzylidene-alpha-D-mannopyranoside 11 have been prepar ed from D-mannose and allowed to react in the presence of methyl trifl ate as promoter to give the tetrasaccharide derivative methyl O-(2, 3, 4, l-alpha-D-mannopyranosyl)-(1-->3)-O-(2-O-acetyl-4, e-alpha-D-manno pyranosyl)-(1-->2)-O-(3-O-benzyl-4, O-benzyl-4,6-O-benzylidene-alpha-D -mannopyranoside 12.
