Carbon nanotubes are expected to be very competitive materials: with tensil
e features that surpass by far their counterparts in known high performance
composite materials. In conjunction to this, remarkable electronic propert
ies make them ideal components to design new microelectronic devices at the
nanoscale. We review some recents results that confirm expectional mechani
cal properties, and unveil new features of electronic transport. Both new f
indings characterize these new Glass of materials.
