The relationships among the nine species of Glyceria occurring in Brit
ish Columbia were evaluated using principal components analysis of mor
phological features. The analysis resolved five distinct species and t
wo groups, each consisting of a pair of similar species. independent a
nalyses of these two groups indicated both consisted of different, alb
eit close, species. The interpretation that quantitatively similar spe
cies are distinct is corroborated by qualitative differences among the
se same species. A kev to the nine species is included.
