Abstract
A female Red-breasted Merganser with six young was observed on the riv er flowing from Buchanan Lake into Mokka Fjord on Axel Heiberg Island, Northwest Territories, on 9 August 1993. This is some 900 km north of the northern edge of the known breeding range in eastern Canada for t his species.
