Abstract
Tortella alpicola Dir., once considered rare as only a few isolated st ations had been recorded in North America, is shown to have a more wid espread distribution. Characteristics distinguishing this species from the common and widespread Tortella fragilis and T. tortuosa are prese nted in a key.
