Breast infection is now much less common than it used to be. It most common
ly occurs in women in the 18 to 50 age group, and can be divided into lacta
tional and non-lactational infection. The most common causative organism is
Staphylococcus aureus, although enterococci and Anerobic streptococci are
also seen in non-lactational infection.(1) An unusual case is reported with
a new aetiology for breast sepsis. (C) 2000 Harcourt Publishers Ltd.
