Free radical-promoted cyclopolymerisation of a 4,6-bis(4-vinylbenzyl)-myo-i nositol orthoformate 4, whose X-ray structure has been determined, was stud ied and the first formed intermediate was trapped using (tetramethylpiperid ine N-oxyl) (TEMPO) 7.
