Abstract
Tetrabromosemibuckminsterfullerene 6, obtained by a novel synthetic route, is converted to the tetramethyl derivative 7; X-ray crystal structure deter mination of the latter reveals a highly nonplanar, bowl-shaped molecule wit h solvating CCl4 molecules separating the hydrocarbon moieties.
