1,3-Diphenyl-2,2,2,4,4,4-hexazido-1,3-diaza-2,4-diphosphetidine: synthesisand structural characterisation of the first nitrogen-penta-coordinated phosphorus with three azide-groups

(C6H5)(2)N2P2(N-3)(6) 1 has been prepared and characterised by multinuclear NMR, vibrational spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray analysis; the norma l modes of 1 have been calculated and the antisymmetric stretching vibratio n of the azide group has been discussed.
