The complexes [Co(N-3)(trpn)]ClO4.1/2 H2O and [Co(CO3)(L-1)]ClO4 {L-1= C12H
26N4 = (9-(3-aminopropyl)-1,5,9-triazacyclododecene)} were prepared, and ch
aracterized by visible and LR spectra. The crystal and molecular structure
of the title complex [Co(CO3)(L-1)]ClO4 was determined from X-ray diffracti
on data using direct methods. The crystals are monoclinic, a = 13.588(4) An
gstrom, b = 9.049(3) Angstrom, c = 15.569(6) Angstrom, beta = 114.75(2)degr
ees, Z = 4, V = 1738.5(10) Angstrom (3), space group P2(1)/n. The structure
consists of isolated [Co(CO3)(C12H26N4)](+) complex cations, with distorte
d octahedral geometry and ClO4- counter anions. The results are discussed i
n relation to similar macrocycle and carbonate analogues.
