Abstract
A novel technique for simultaneous pulse reshaping and repetition-rate mult iplication of mode-locked laser pulse trains using linearly chirped apodize d fiber Bragg gratings is proposed. Simple analytical expressions for apodi zation and phase profiles of the grating are derived. The practical feasibi lity of this technique is discussed in detail for the case of high-repetiti on-rate square pulse generation and multiplication.
