Three different strategies to control the methanol flow rate in cultur
es of a dextranase-producing Mut(s) clone of the methylotrophic yeast
Pichia pastoris were analysed. The cell growth and secretion of dextra
nase were different for each strategy. The increment of methanol-feedi
ng rate used in the strategy based on dissolved oxygen (DO) in the cul
ture medium gave better results for both cell growth and enzyme secret
ion, reaching 56.2 g dry biomass and 5.14 g of dextranase per litre of
broth.
