Abstract
Lithophyllum lichenoides Philippi (Rhodophyta, Corallinaceae) is a com mon, intertidal to shallow subtidal, nongeniculate, coralline red alga on the western Mediterranean and the Atlantic coasts of France and Sp ain. Its external appearance and vegetative anatomy are well known but little information is available with respect to its reproductive anat omy. Based on recently collected plants from northern Spain and Medite rranean France a description is given of vegetative, spermatangial, ca rpogonial/ carposporophytic and tetrasporangial structures. Pore-block ing cells are present in tetrasporangial conceptacles.
