Abstract
We show that the pi NN coupling constant determined model-independentl y from Tip charge exchange is subject to a systematic shift, and, more significantly that the strong absorption in the critical region preve nts a determination of the coupling constant to high precision using t his reaction. This removes partly the discrepancy with the value extra cted from the ttp charge exchange cross sections.
