Abstract
Three Mg/Al, Mg/Ga and Mg/Al,Ga layered-double hydroxides were synthesized and characterized from their X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns. Calcination of these solids at 773 K yielded a mixture of oxides (MgO/Al2O3, MgO/Ga2O3 and MgO/Al2O3/Ga2O3) that was also characterized by the XRD technique. Surf ace proton sites in these mixed oxides were determined by H-1 MAS NMR spect roscopy. The results are compared with those for the pure oxides. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
