Abstract
The response of two engineering materials, Go-based X-40 and an austenitic cast iron BS 3468. to erosion-corrosion was investigated in liquid-solid im pingement conditions. The characteristics of the corrosion behavior of the materials in static and erosion-corrosion conditions were compared and cont rasted. For both materials, the contribution made by corrosion and corrosio n-related processes to material degradation is significant and can account for more than 40% of the total mass loss.
