Abstract
Pharmacodynamics is a science that integrates microbiological and pharmacok inetic data into more clinically relevant relationships. An understanding o f pharmacodynamic concepts is essential for the clinician, for it forms the scientific basis for rational antimicrobial chemotherapy. Herein, fundamen tal pharmacodynamic principles and their application to clinical practice a re discussed.
