Abstract
Addition of 4,4',4 " ,4 "'-tetra-tert-butyl-6,6',6 " ,6 "'-tetra-tert-butyl -2,2',2 " ,2 "'-(1,8-anthracenemethanediyl)-tetraphenol (1) to a solution o f Al2Me6 affords a tetranuclear aluminum species (2) which, upon heating, f ormed a binuclear species (3). Treatment of 3 with NEt4-Cl allowed for the isolation of 4, a discrete bimetallic aluminum assembly wherein the two met als simultaneously coordinate an external nucleophile.
