Abstract
The goal of this work is to model experimental optical data in porous silic on within the framework of the effective medium theories and to analyze the role of including the effect of charges in the nanostructures. The presenc e of charge produces a blueshift in the optical response similarly to quant um confinement, Also, the intensity of the excitation luminescence spectra decreases when the charge is present in the nanostructures. We explore thes e effects experimentally and we conclude that charge may give a significant change in the optical properties of porous silicon.
