Abstract
We report experimental results for the Kondo behavior of multilayers compos ed of Au and Au(Fe) films. The results show that the strength of the Kondo behavior produced by the local moments associated with the Fe depends on th e distance of the Fe from the free surfaces of the multilayer. This depende nce is in good quantitative agreement with recent theoretical predictions.
