J. Gasparro et al., Reflection-asymmetric structures in Ra-225 from gamma-ray spectroscopy study of Th-229 alpha decay - art. no. 064305, PHYS REV C, 6206(6), 2000, pp. 4305
The level structure of Ra-225, produced in alpha decay of Th-229, was studi
ed by gamma -ray spectroscopy. The sources were continuously purified from
daughters with ion-exchange chromatographic separation methods. Energies an
d intensities of 174 gamma rays were accurately measured with HPGe detector
s. About 100 gamma rays were reported for the first time, especially in the
300-700 keV energy range. A Ra-225 level scheme was proposed, accounting f
or about 200 transitions among 45 excited states. The level structure was i
nterpreted in the framework of reflection-asymmetric structures with parity
doublet bands. The model was shown to be in satisfactory agreement with ex
perimental data.
