The 8 pi gamma -ray spectrometer has been used to resolve high-spin states
in the nucleus Fe-56 following the reaction Ca-48(C-13,5n)Fe-56 at a beam e
nergy of 65 MeV. This study has extended the known decay scheme of Fe-56 to
J(pi)=(13(+))(h) over bar. The experimental decay scheme is compared with
theoretical shell model calculations within the pf shell valence space.
