Systematics of the low-energy pionic double charge exchange in nuclei - art. no. 064615

The experimental results for the ( pi (+),pi (-)) reaction on nuclei obtain ed in recent years reveal clear systematic features of this reaction. New d ata on Li-7, C-12, O-16 and Fe-56 supplementing the existing data base are presented. The data on C-12 are partly at variance with previous results. T he dependence of the cross sections on incident energy, scattering angle, a nd on the target mass is discussed for transitions leading to the ground st ate of the final nucleus or to the double isobaric analog state.
