Sl. King et al., First observation of excited states in the neutron deficient nuclei Os-164and Os-166 - art. no. 067301, PHYS REV C, 6206(6), 2000, pp. 7301
Excited states have been observed for the first time in the neutron deficie
nt nuclei Os-166 and Os-164. The nuclei were produced using the reactions C
d-106(Cu-63,p2n) Os-166, Sn-112(Ni-58,2p,2n) Os-166, and Cd-106(Ni-60,2n)Os
-164 at beam energies of 292, 286, and 257 MeV, respectively. The gamma ray
s emitted by Os-166 and Os-164 were identified by correlating the associate
d recoil evaporation residues with their subsequent characteristic a decays
. The deduced level schemes indicate that Os-166 and Os-164 continue the tr
end of decreasing deformation moving away from the N = 104 midshell. The le
vel energy systematics of the low-spin states are presented.
