Abstract
A bioassay monitored fractionation of a chloroform extract from the aerial parts of Baccharis trimera a yielded a mixture that blocked the Ca2+-induce d contractions of KCl-depolarized rat portal vein preparations. Pharmacolog ical tests of two pure compounds isolated from the mixture revealed the dil actonic clerodane diterpene as the active compound. (C) 2000 Elsevier Scien ce Ltd. All rights reserved.
