Piper hispidum and Piper tuberculatum accumulate amides bearing isobutyl, p
yrrolidine, dihydropyridone and piperidine moieties. The isolation and char
acterization of several representatives including two hitherto unreported a
mides were performed by chromatographic techniques and by analysis of spect
roscopic data. The antifungal activity of each amide was determined by dire
ct bioautography against Cladosporium sphaerospermum. (C) 2000 Elsevier Sci
