Abstract
Racemosol and demethylracemosol, together with their possible biogenetic pr ecursors, preracemosol A and preracemosol B, were isolated from the roots o f Bauhinia malabarica Roxb. While only racemosol and demethylracemosol exhi bited cytotoxicity against KB and BC cell lines, all four compounds exhibit ed moderate antimalarial activity. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
