Abstract
An anomalous temperature behaviour of the hydrogen evolution reaction on Pt electrode in molten ethylammonium tetrafluoroborate has been observed. The influence of a small amount of tetraethylammonium tetrafluoroborate on hyd rogen evolution from molten EtNH3BF4 has been investigated, using a.c. impe dance and potentiostatic steady-state polarization technique. It has been p ostulated that the amine molecules exert an inhibition effect on the hydrog en evolution on Pt electrode in molten alkylammonium salt.
