M. Schlupp et al., Metal colloids as sensor-active materials for the detection of volatile compounds and solvents, SENS ACTU-B, 71(1-2), 2000, pp. 9-12
The following will demonstrate that metal colloids, usually known in the fi
eld of catalysis, can also be used as sensor-active layers on a quartz micr
obalance. A systematic screening showed that these sensors can be excellent
ly used for the detection of various volatile organic substances. Their gre
at advantage is their long time stability as well as the possibility of fin
e tuning the sensor by altering the three parameters metal, ligand and thei
r proportion. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
