The surface effects on the process of impurity dissolution in semiconductor
crystals has been analyzed. Computations performed for the suggested model
showed that the surface effects are essential for spherical crystals with
a radius smaller than thirteen lattice periods (i.e., for nanocrystals). It
has been established that the melting points and the limiting impurity sol
ubilities of impurities decrease with the crystal size. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauk
