Abstract
Two new hemicarcerand hosts with tosylamide bridges are found to be relativ ely selective binders. The tosyl groups could not be removed without destro ying the hosts. A crystal structure of the smaller host suggests that two o f the four 28-membered ring portals are rigidly locked in an open position. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
