The first and preliminary investigation of AlN composites thermal-treated u
nder normal gravity and microgravity conditions by using chemical ovens was
conducted during aircraft parabolic flights. The results indicated that, d
ifferent microstructures in the samples are associated with gravity level d
uring parabolic flight, and microgravity condition allows the synthesis of
AlN-borosilicate glass composite with improved microstructure, as compared
with that under the terrestrial rendition. It is favorable to produce AlN-b
orosilicate glass composites with a relatively uniform distribution of comp
osition and structure. Finally, the use of chemical oven and the potential
of material synthesis under microgravity condition are appreciated.
