In a copybook the text survives of a decree of King Ferdinand I from 7 Nove
mber 1533. According to this, Caspar Schwenckfeld of Ossig, owing to an all
eged recantation, is pardoned. There is, to be sure, evidence that unnamed
friends of Schwenckfeld's, among them possibly Duke Frederick II of Liegnit
z, worked to obtain his pardon at this time. Nevertheless, it is improbable
that Schwenckfeld would really have been prepared to fulfill the condition
s named in the decree. It is equally uncertain that the document was ever s
ent out.
