It is shown that in finite temperature QCD the two-loop effective acti
on of the gauge field zero component condensate W(A0, xi), calculated
in the background R(xi)ext gauge, satisfies the Nielsen identity and h
as a nontrivial minimum. In this way the gauge invariance of the gluon
condensation phenomenon is proved. The role of quarks and a compariso
n with results of other authors are briefly discussed.
