Abstract
Peculiarities of radical 2-vinyl phenothiazine (2-VPT) polymerization in an acylating solvent in which N-acylation and polymerization reactions procee d concurrently are studied. Optimal conditions for each reaction are ascert ained, which allows a possible preferential direction of the process to be predicted. The structure of poly-2-vinyl-10-acetyl phenothiazine (poly-2-VA PT) and poly-2-VPT formed by saponification of starting poly-2-VAPT with an alkali solution in alcohol is investigated. Poly-2-VPT is shown to exhibit enhanced thermal and oxidative stability.
