The history of a 28-year-old woman with anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALC
L) in the first trimester of her pregnancy is reported. Investigations allo
wed to diagnose a T-cell CD30 positive ALCL, which appearance is rare durin
g pregnancy. Moreover, the atypical lymphoid cells were found in the periph
eral blood and were predominantly small to medium sized with nuclear irregu
larities and cytoplasmic azurophilic granules, which allowed the hypothesis
of leukaemic presentation of a small cell variant ALCL. A variant of the t
(2:5)(p23:q35) was found [del(2)(p22)]. The patient died shortly after diag
nosis.
