Abstract
The work deals with the formulation of a one-dimensional kinematical model that is able to study the static behaviour of fibre-reinforced polymer thin -walled beams. The proposed model allows us to take into account the effect s of shear deformability. Some numerical results obtained via the finite el ement method are provided and comparisons with the results obtained by Vlas ov's classical theory are also presented. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
