This paper presents a 2-D fluid-particles model for computing sediment tran
sport in estuarine zones. This model is based on resolving the mass, moment
um and constitutive equations for free-surface and multi-phase flows. The f
luid-particles and particle-particle interactions are taken into account in
the model. Chorin's method combined with a finite differences technique is
used. Benchmark tests, which describe the suspended-sediment transport, an
d the flow engendered by solid-particles settling in a reservoir, have been
carried out to validate the present model. (C) 2000 Academie des sciences/
