Immunoglobulin-secreting lymphoma from cells of splenic marginal zone

Monoclonal immunoglobulin (paraprotein) was identified in the serum and uri ne samples of 7 splenic marginal zone lymphoma patients by means of high-re solution agarose gel electrophoresis technique combined with immunofixation . Six patients had serum monoclonal proteins (5 cases of IgG and 1 case of IgM) and one had only urinary monoclonal protein (as by clonic secretion of free light chains). A decrease of polyclonic immunoglobulin was recorded i n one case. Disappearance of paraprotein from the serum was recorded in 3 o f 6 patients after splenectomy. Plasmacytoid differentiation in the spleen tissue was registered in 3 patients.
