Famennian rocks with deep water facies are very well developed in the north
ern part of Junggar Basin, Northern Sinkiang (NW China). The Hongguleleng F
ormation yields abundant rugose corals of the 'Cyathaxonia fauna' associate
d with a lot of brachiopods, some ammonoids (Clymenids) and some conodonts.
The assemblages of these fossils indicate a Famennian age for the Honggule
leng Formation. The descriptions herein include fifteen species, among them
two are new, belonging to ten genera. Some genera such as Amplexus, Gueric
hiphyllum, Hebuhophyllum, Nicholsoniella, Cyathaxonia, Ufimia, Caninia and
Petraiella are common in North Sinkiang and they show a close relationship
during theFamennian with those of the NE of Siberia (Omolon Region), E of I
nner Mongolia (Central Great Hinggan Mountains, NE China), Kazakhstan (Russ
ian Federation), the Urals (Russian Federation), Holy Cross Mountains (Pola
nd) and Thuringia Mountains (Germany).
