Abstract
Nomadism is a true hemopoietic characteristic during vertebrate phylog eny and ontogeny. This work reviews the mechanisms and developmental s teps of hemopoiesis, from a phylogenetic point of view. A summary of t he principal hemopoietic ''foci'' along the evolutionary line is also presented.
