Bioactive phenolic compounds in traditional medicines were investigate
d. Arctigenin, matairesinol, trachelogenin and nortrachelogenin from C
aulis Trachelospermi, mauritianin from Herba Catharanthi, plantamajosi
de, acetoside and plantaginin from Plantago Herb, suspensaside, forsyt
hiaside and (+)-pinoresinol O-beta-D-glucoside from Forsythia Fruit, a
nd (+)-syringaresinol di-O-beta-D-glucoside from Eleutherococcus, were
respectively isolated and subjected to assays for thier biological ac
tivities.
