Abstract
Highly functionalized silsesquioxanes anal spherosilicates of the form ulae [(RCH=CH)(8)Si8O12] and [(RCH=CHSiMe2-O)(8)Si8O12] can be prepare d by cross-metathesis reactions of alkenes with readily available viny l-substituted silsesquioxane and spherosilicate frameworks, [(vinyl)(8 )Si8O12] 1 and [(vinylSiMe(2)O)(8)Si8O12] 2; the methodology is quite general and is not complicated by self-metathesis reactions of 1 or 2.
