Abstract
A theory of the modified (distance dependent) electronic mass effect for tw o-electron diatomic molecules is presented. The modified electronic mass co rrection is compared with the diagonal Born-Oppenheimer correction to the p otential energy curves of H-2, suggesting that the adiabatic correction is almost exactly accounted for by this effect.
