Abstract
The completion of the Human Genome Project is expected by the year 2003. Th is mapping of standard human gene sequences and common variants will provid e a reference database. This information will also provide new areas of res earch and study. An example of this is pharmacogenomics, an area of researc h and development that studies the genetically influenced response to pharm acologic agents.
