Abstract
YBa2Cu3O7-delta - 25mol%Y2BaCuO5 bars and thick films have been melt textur ed using a stationary furnace with a temperature gradient of 3 or 6 degrees C/cm. Samples are heated above the peritectic reaction temperature and quen ched to just above the solidification temperature and then slowly cooled be low the solidification temperature. All bar shaped samples consist of 2 sim ilar to5 mm grains though the grain orientations strongly depend on the hea t treatment conditions. The bar shows the maximum J(c) of above 3000 A/cm(2 ), whereas the maximum J(c) of 200 A/cm(2) and T-c zero of 88 K are obtaine d far the thick him on (100) LaAlO3 single crystal.
