Mk. Song et al., The characteristic analysis of the flux damper located in HTS synchronous motor through 3-dimensional magnetic field analysis using FEM, PHYSICA C, 341, 2000, pp. 2601-2602
This paper deals with the characteristic analysis of the flux damper with r
espect to the load in a high-Tc superconducting (HTS) synchronous motor. To
find out the shielding performance and the change of the eddy-currents on
the fluxdamper, the experimentally measured currents of the armature and th
e field windings are used as input parameters in solving the three-dimensio
nal (3D) magnetic field distribution in a HTS synchronous motor with Finite
-Element Method (FEM). The simulation results show that the transient state
lasts for about two seconds and the flux damper shields the time varying f
ield up to ten percent.
