We report on the characterisation of a new Josephson device, based on a YBa
2Cu3O7 (YBCO) step edge junction and a control line. The control current is
injected into the region close to the GB region through two Au/YBCO contac
ts. Feeding the device with a suitable control current, linear branches are
observed in the current-voltage characteristic of the step edge junction,
in the range 0.5 - 2.5 mV. No similar effects appear when an external magne
tic field is applied. The stability of the linear branches and their wide-r
ange voltage tunability are such that applications can potentially be devel
oped in the field of submillimiter-wave generation and detection.
