Exploiting the d(x2-y2)-dominated symmetry of the high-T-c cuprates, we hav
e fabricated thin film dc-pi -SQUIDs which consist of high-T-c superconduct
ors only. The characteristics of the pi -SQUIDs are compared with the prope
rties of standard high-T-c SQUIDs. Further we show that in superconductors
the admixture of various symmetry components of the order parameter does no
t have to be constant, but in general is characterized by spatial variation
s.
