Abstract
A new, simple method for the determination of the degree of texture of supe rconducting grains inside Ag-sheathed (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 tapes is prese nted. This procedure is based on the relevant anisotropy existing between t he in-plane and out-of-plane critical current densities in Bi-based superco nducting compounds and involves magnetic measurements performed for differe nt orientation of the external magnetic field with respect to the tape surf ace. In particular, we have monitored the evolution of the precursor (Bi,Pb )(2)Sr2Ca1Cu2O8 grain texture during, the cold rolling process of the Powde r-In-Tube process, as well as at various steps of the heating ramp precedin g the Bi(2223) phase formation.
